Currently working as Managing Director, M/s. Essae Technologies. Has Masters Degree in Electrical Engg from University of Texas, USA, Bachelors of Engg ( E&C) from R V College of Engg, Bangalore. Founded this organization in 1998 to focus on automatic identification products like Bar Code Printers, Scanners & Data Capturing Systems.

Professional Work Experience:

25 years in India and abroad, with collaborators in industry, R&D labs, research institutions and government organizations in US, UK, Japan, Korea and Russia. Worked for Rodel-Nitta Japan, Sistec Co. Ltd. Industry-Academic Collaborative Research Centre, Kochi Technical University, Japan, Cambridge University – Cambridge UK, Environment, Science & Technology Office, US Embassy-New Delhi, National Physical Laboratory –New Delhi, HARTRON- Ambala, Kurukshetra University- Kurukshetra and Manipal University – Manipal.

Expertise:

  • Establishment of new industries, technical groups and labs in industry, R&D and academic environment.

  • Development of process equipments, characterization equipments, and products from concept to proof of concept to production stage.

  • Consultancy, training managers & engineers, teaching, production, marketing and guiding students.

Publications:

Over 100 research publications in Journals and Conference Proceedings , delivered over 40 invited talks in international conferences and workshops.

Areas of Research Interest:

Nanotechnology (novel room/low temperature growth process, materials and devices), vacuum nanoelectronics, large area microelectronics and flexible electronics, flat panel displays, photovoltaics, energy harvesting and scavenging technologies, instrumentation, MEMS, S&T and higher education policy, networks & sensors, aviation, defence and thin film & vacuum technology.

Profile of the Resource person

A Masters degree in Science and Education focusing on “Creativity in teaching & learning” has taught science at the school and college levels. He has honed his research and training skills in BASE, Bangalore. He was involved actively in developing innovative training modules in life-skills. He has been a Teacher educator in leading colleges in Bangalore. He is passionate about creativity, critical and creative thinking. He has conducted workshop for teachers and corporate at all levels. He has specialized in developing activity based thematic modules in science and other subjects. He is presently pursuing his research in education leading to Ph.D. He is the in charge of all the training programs for teachers, students and corporate.

Dr.N.S. Narahari, Chief Project Leader, ED Cell,

R V College of Engg.

Profile of the Resource person

Dr. Narahari, Director of Placement & Training Department. He obtained his Master degree in Reliability Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and BE in Industrial Engineering from Bangalore University. He has acquired his Doctorate for submission of his thesis on the topic “Application of Decision Support System for Human Resource Management Problems Using System Dynamics Approach”. He has got 26 years of teaching experience His research interests are Quality Engineering, Reliability Engineering and Industrial Engineering. He has guided more than 50 undergraduate and 25 post graduate (MBA) projects and 10 post graduate (M.Tech) projects. In addition he has guided projects for students pursuing their graduate ship in Industrial Engineering, conducted by IIIE Mumbai. Currently he is teaching courses on Industrial Design & Ergonomics, Product Design & Manufacturing, Reliability Engineering, Value Engineering, and Engineering Ethics. He has presented and published paper at national and International conference/journals. He is on the executive committee of many professional associations such as IIIE, ORSI, SIVAM, NIQR etc. He has also successfully executed several research projects funded by various agencies of repute. He has been awarded Fellowship by the Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering and also been awarded Dr. S.R. Gollapudi award for his contribution to the field of Industrial Engineering.

Specially skilled in business strategy planning, acquiring and implementing new project ideas and cost-effective turnaround management. Has hands-on in depth experience in functional areas such as Production, Finance, Marketing, HR and Supply chain management. As a Management Consultant and a Chief Executive has an extensive and intensive exposure to a variety of industries such as rose farms, shipping, fuel distribution, trucking, mining, food processing industry, iron and steel, fertilizer, salt, edible oil, garments and hosiery, WPP bags, ceramics and a variety of electrical engineering industries. Experienced in working with multinational and multi-ethnic work force in North, West and East Africa and India.During his stint in Nigeria the group sales turnover soared from US$ 60 Million to a staggering US$ 400 Million in just 8 years. Santhanam’s success as a Chief Executive and his track record of putting up new projects as well as turning around many operations can be attributed to his penchant for efficient and effective management of all resources and a keen eye for innovation and new business opportunities. Santhanam’s unstinting involvement in collective engagement with the line managers and team building established an enviable organizational culture that will last a long time. Has travelled widely in Austria, Italy, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, UK, Japan, USA, Oman, UAE, Kenya, Sudan, Iran, Nigeria and Ethiopia on business. Conversant with large scale computer systems and has implemented systems for Finance & Supply chain management at Tata Steel.Top ranking degree holder in Electrical engineering from IIT Madras, post graduate in mechanical and the metallurgical engineering. Prof. C K Nagendra Guptha, Project Coordinator, ED Cell. He is pursuing his Doctor of Philosophy Degree from Visvesvaraya Technological University in the area of Supply Chain Management. He obtained his Master degree in Engineering Management and BE in Industrial & Production Engineering from Mysore University. He has 20 years of teaching, research and Industry experience. His research interests are Supply Chain Management, Quality Engineering and Industrial Engineering. He has guided more than 35 undergraduate and 25 post graduate (MBA) projects and 2 post graduate (M.Tech) projects. Currently he is teaching courses on Supply Chain Management, Robust Design, Total Quality Management. He has presented and published paper at national and International conference/journals. He is on the executive committee of many professional associations such as IIIE, ISTE etc. He has also successfully executed several research projects funded by various agencies of repute. He has been awarded Fellowship by the Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering.

Prof.A.N. Joshi – has acquired qualification of B.E. in Electrical Engineering, M.E. in Applied Electronics, and has now Registered for his doctoral Thesis on the topic “Speech Enhancement Techniques”. He has about 27 years of experience in the teaching profession. He has assumed various responsibilities such as

  • Served in different capacities in the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Gogte Institute of Technology, Belgaum.

  • BOE (Electrical) at VTU during 2006-07.

  • Member of LIC Committee on several occasions at VTU.

  • Chief Editor for College Newsletter at GIT.

  • Member “MODROBS” scheme evaluation committee in 2005-06.

  • Co-ordinated “PGCET Counseling” during 2005-06.

His area of interest includes Area of Interest: Signal Processing, Linear Integrated Circuits, and Microprocessor Controllers. His present position is in VTU as Special Officer at ED Cell since August 2010.
